Term time programme outline:

There is no booking required. Sessions do not have set format and are tailored around young people's interests, but always involve music. We have experienced young tutors on site and they help those keen to sharpen their music skills using the latest technology and Apple mobile class. We tend to have one social evening every term with open mic, food and a lot of music.

The project is supported by Pret'A'Manger. Tasty sandwiches, drinks and crisps are donated for each session to sup growing talents.

Every Wednesday: 6PM - 8.00PM

Here is a sample session plan for references:

Session 1 getting started

Student will be given a guide of the Logic Pro 8 and allowed to explore for themselves the basic functions and how to open documents and navigate around the software’s main windows used for editing and composing. Students will also learn how to save their working files, and folder etc using an Apple Mac system

Session 2 Basic Beat Making 1

Students will make their first track using apple loops and encouraged to think about arrangements and develop for themselves an ear for what works and what doesn’t. Students will learn how to find, use, and manipulate loops in the edit windows. Students will be using both Midi and Audio loops.

Session 3 Programming or recording melodies and notes

Students will create and record their own melodies and key patterns using the different sounds and instrument found in the Logic sound libraries. Students will learn how to record to tempo and Quantize notes.

Who Should Attend?

The course does not require any preliminary knowledge or abilities. Candidates are offered an informal interview to explain why they would like to join in. The course is offering a chance to the students to complete an Art Award. As it is FREE of charge we expect a serious level of commitment from the students.

The programme includes also a public even t when the students will be asked to demonstrate to their peers what they have learnt.

Above all the course is designed to help young people build their capacity to learn as well as build confidence and the right attitudes needed to achieve in life.
